Make Your Own Dressing
If you haven’t tried it yet, you should. Homemade salad dressing usually tastes SO MUCH better than store bought, and it’s easy to make! And, the dressing almost always tastes a lot better when you make it 1 to 2 days ahead of time. So, don’t wait until the last minute. That’s really a great bonus! It’s one less thing to do on the day of your salad bar party.
If you’re short on time, you can easily choose one or two homemade dressings to make, and buy others from the store. You can even pour store bought dressing into the same serving bottles as your homemade dressing for a more elegant look (I promise that I won’t tell that it’s from the store!).
Here are a few salad dressing recipes to try (remember to make them the day before!):
- Simple Sicilian Salad Dressing
- Japanese Style Dressing
- Sweet and Sour Style Dressing
- Korean Style Salad Dressing
Drinking iced tea, raspberry lemonade or an ice-cold sangria really hits the spot on hot summer days. Serve your favorite beverages in a beautiful glass beverage dispenser. I upgraded mine by replacing the spout with this sturdier metal spigot. When I’m not hosting a party, you can find mine filled with iced tea or lemonade in the refrigerator. Make sure your friends know what beverage is inside each dispenser by tying a reusable chalkboard label on the front!
Feed Your Friends Delicious Desserts
For easy and cold summertime desserts, keep it simple and serve some old-fashioned Root Beer Floats or Ice Cream Sundaes. They’re so simple and always a hit.
Play a summer playlist from your favorite music streaming service, and pull out some fun games! If you’re looking for something new that will be the talk of your party, try a giant but generic versions of Jenga or Yahtzee.
